John grew up fishing for Salmon and Steelhead on the South Santiam River and spent over 25 years fishing the Spring Chinook and Summer Steelhead runs that have made the South Santiam an angling favorite. He learned the fishery very well from both the bank and from the boat. The last 10 years he’s spent refining his boaters skills and venturing out learning new waters and new techniques.
John Elder is one of the hardest working guides you will find when it comes to persistence and preparation. He is always researching new techniques and gear for improved results.

We fish the West Coastal Range and Willamette Valley of Oregon and fish multiple rivers and lakes to target the fisheries producing the best catches for the season.
